Telegram Desktop przed wersją 7.2.9 zawiera lukę w zabezpieczeniach polegającą na wstrzykiwaniu separatora rekordów IPC w Core::Sandbox, która umożliwia zdalnym atakującym wstrzykiwanie rekordów OPEN: za pośrednictwem spreparowanych łączy tg:// zawierających średniki bez znaku zmiany znaczenia. Atakujący mogą uzyskać dostęp do procedury obsługi schematu interpret: w celu przesłania plików lokalnych, w tym kluczy sesji tdata, na kanał atakującego, umożliwiając przejęcie konta.
