PhpSpreadsheet to czysta biblioteka PHP do odczytywania i zapisywania plików arkuszy kalkulacyjnych. W wersjach wcześniejszych niż 1.30.7, 2.1.19, 2.4.8, 3.10.8 i 5.10.0 XmlScanner::scan w src/PhpSpreadsheet/Reader/Security/XmlScanner.php używa wzorca wykrywania DOCTYPE, który uwzględnia przeplatanie bajtów NUL, ale nie sekwencje ucieczki ISO-2022 w częściach XLSX XML. Sekwencje ucieczki uniemożliwiają skanerowi dopasowanie deklaracji, a normalizacja zestawu znaków XML następnie usuwa bajty ucieczki przed analizą, ujawniając prawidłowe definicje DOCTYPE i jednostek. Przetwarzanie pliku XLSX kontrolowanego przez atakującego może zatem spowodować odmowę usługi rozszerzenia jednostki w obsługiwanych wersjach PHP i może pozwolić na dostęp do plików lokalnych lub SSRF w PHP przed wersją 8.0 lub gdy włączona jest biblioteka LIBXML_NOENT. Ten problem został rozwiązany w wersjach 1.30.7, 2.1.19, 2.4.8, 3.10.8 i 5.10.0.
