Tłumaczenie automatyczne – może zawierać nieścisłości.
CFITSIO do wersji 4.7.0 zawiera lukę w zabezpieczeniach umożliwiającą zapis poza granicami w ffgcls2() w getcols.c, która ufa kontrolowanym przez atakującego długościom deskryptorów sterty dla kolumn ciągów o zmiennej długości. Osoby atakujące mogą dostarczyć spreparowany plik FITS, który przekracza ustalony bufor stosu o wielkości 28 800 bajtów i tablicę ciągów obiektu wywołującego, umożliwiając wykonanie dowolnego kodu.
