Fraunhofer HHI VVdeC przed wersją 3.2.1 zawiera lukę w zabezpieczeniach związaną z użyciem sterty po zwolnieniu w DecLibRecon::createSubPicRefBufs, ponieważ decompressPicture czyści m_subPicExtTasks bez czekania na oczekujące zadania. Atakujący mogą dostarczyć spreparowany strumień bitów VVC zawierający wiele subobrazów do dekoderów przy użyciu dwóch lub więcej wątków, powodując uszkodzenie pamięci sterty lub awarię dekodera.
