MapServer to system do tworzenia internetowych aplikacji GIS. Od wersji 6.0 do 8.6.4 wyjście HTML OpenLayers MapServera dla SERVICE=WMS&REQUEST=GetMap&FORMAT=application/openlayers odzwierciedla kontrolowaną przez atakującego wartość X-Forwarded-Host otrzymaną jako HTTP_X_FORWARDED_HOST poprzez msBuildOnlineResource(), ProcessLine() i podstawienie [mapserv_onlineresource] w src/maputil.c i src/maptemplate.c bez ucieczki przed ciągiem JavaScript ujętym w pojedynczy cudzysłów. Gdy wdrożenie ufa przekazanemu nagłówkowi i nie konfiguruje stałej wartości ows_onlineresource ani MS_ONLINERESOURCE, osadzone pojedyncze cudzysłowy mogą spowodować zmianę wygenerowanego ciągu adresu URL. Nieuwierzytelniony atakujący może stworzyć adres URL, który po otwarciu przez ofiarę wykona dowolny kod JavaScript w źródle witryny MapServer, umożliwiając dostęp do sesji lub tokenów, danych i żądań tego samego pochodzenia oraz działań co ofiara. Ten problem został rozwiązany w wersji 8.6.4.
