alsa-lib do wersji 1.2.16.1 oblicza łączny rozmiar elementu topologii przy użyciu 32-bitowej arytmetyki w src/topology/ctl.c, umożliwiając przepełnienie liczb całkowitych, które omija sprawdzanie granic. Atakujący mogą dostarczyć spreparowane pliki topologii, które otaczają obliczenia rozmiaru, powodując, że dekoder odczytuje dane poza bufor topologii i potencjalnie wycieka wrażliwe dane lub zawiesza aplikację.
